Inui Architects is a Tokyo-based design practice that specializes in public buildings such as stations, schools, welfare facilities, housing, interiors, and public squares.

In recent years, we have come to believe in the importance of the commons in society, and we place great importance on creating spaces and opportunities that nurture the commons. Using our experience in researching “little spaces”, we explore the various possibilities of commons.

For projects of a public nature, we place great importance on local research and interviews. We investigate and research the various elements involved in a project from different perspectives, and try to enhance the project while accurately grasping its social significance.

For housing projects, we focus on basic housing issues such as building assets for the long term, while proposing lifestyles that allow people to live fulfilling lives in the local community.
